It has been a week and a half after the crash and here are the updates.
Daddy Scotty: The doc on Friday had an extra X-ray performed on my ankle. All seems intact. They did not recommend a MRI. However, they said that if I am still having pains a week or two from last Friday, then I should call and make another appointment. Aside from my ankles, my knees have been hurting and popping. The doc believes that it could be that I am walking differently, since my ankle is hurt. When the doc's nurse called to tell Mommy Lissa that my ankle is not broken, mommy lissa asked whether I was allowed to drive and if I should be need to be using my crutches all of the time. She said that the doc did not require this, he believes it is recommended as I have quite a bit of swelling. He said that I should use it as little as possible. I doubted the driving part, but followed the crutches recommendation. That is until Monday and Tuesday. (see vehicle update)
Mommy Lissa: Muscles are sore in her shoulders, arms, neck, back and stomach. She went to prompt med and they said there was not any damage that they could tell. (Thank goodness)
Alexa, Madison, Emily: x-rays shows that they are fine. There does not appear to be any damage. However, they do have some muscle pains.
Madison: Had a CT scan because she was complaining of headaches and she was vomiting. The scan came back fine as far as the accident goes. However, there does seem to be some area of concern. Apparently, there is a space between the ventricals of her brain that is filled up with more fluid. There doesn't appear to be too much concern as this is probably from being premature and her weeks spent in the NICU on ventillator. The pediatrician plans to talk to a nuerosurgeon to be sure it isn't something we need to follow up on.
Mamaw Kathy: Has a bruse the entire length of her torso, from the seatbelt. She also has whiplash.
Papaw Bob: Doing well, aside from a little knee pain. He has stated that this is his first vehicle accident. (He has been in a motorcycle accident though).
Vehicle: We have a rental vehicle from October 20th thru October 28th. On Monday the 27th, we went to Carmax and purchased a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with 23k miles. When we arrived home, Mommy Lissa and I tried to put the carseats in. This was not an easy job. We later checked online and found that a van similar to what we were looking for was on the carmax lot, but we did not originally see it. On Tuesday, I had to take off work, since Mommy Lissa had jury duty. I called Carmax and had them put the van on hold and after Mommy Lissa returned home, we went and swapped the van. The van is a 2006 Grand Caravan with Stow-n-go seats, has better heating and cooling vents for the back, and is longer and wider. It has 35K miles.
(I drove the new van home on Monday and drove the kids to preschool on Tuesday. Now I know why the doc said that he did not recommend me driving. It hurt my ankle. I didn't think it would do that much harm. I was wrong. I even admitted to Mommy Lissa that she was right, as usual.)
