Little updates...not much else

Sorry that there haven't been new blogs lately. Things are pretty busy now that the girls are in preschool and there isn't anything major to talk about. I'll see what I can come up with though.

The girls are doing well in preschool. They can say the pledge of allegiance now and say it nearly perfect every time. It's SOOO cute to hear them say. They've also mastered their song "O, the Lord is good to me...". We still need to practice writing our names and cutting with scissors and things like that, but they have come a long way in just a few weeks.

Although Scott and I haven't discussed the growth hormone topic in quite some time, I believe we have decided to wait another year and see if they will grow well enough without medical intervention. We can re-evaluate the situation with the pediatric endocrinologist next year and go from there. The doctor is in no hurry to start hormone therapy and we don't want to put the girls through anything that isn't necessary.

Alexa is doing so/so without pull-ups. I would estimate that she wakes up dry an average of 4 or 5 days out of 7. She has no accidents during the day...it's just the nighttime that is giving her trouble. She'll get there in time. We've learned that when it comes to Alexa, everything is in HER own timing. I just hope we don't have a major setback later this month after her VCUG test to check her kidney reflux. The catheter is very uncomfortable, then they fill her bladder with contrast while taking x-rays every few seconds. Then they need her to urinate while still on the table taking x-rays of the entire procedure. NOT FUN! Luckily Emily and Madison no longer have to suffer through this since they've had surgery to correct their reflux, but poor Alexa still has to go through it until she either outgrows the reflux or the doctor decides she needs surgery.

On another topic: the girls are in toddler beds now. I know... most of you are wondering what they've been sleeping in and why are they just now sleeping in toddler beds, right? Well, until a couple weeks ago they were still sleeping in their cribs. Yes, their cribs. Don't give me a hard time about it...Scott has been pushing for us to convert their cribs to toddler beds for a long time now.

We attempted toddler beds once before (around December/January, I think) and it started off pretty good, but it did not end well at all. Keep in mind the girls still share a room because we don't have enough bedrooms for them each to have their own. Now, imagine 3 year old siblings alone in their bedroom together with nothing confining them to their own bed. At first they loved their newfound freedom and behaved surprisingly well. That lasted for 2 or 3 days. Then one of the girls would get out of bed and take her sisters bear (or pillow, or blanket, or pull her hair, etc, etc) and once that started it was complete chaos. I tried for several days to do everything I could think of to get them to sleep like big girls in their beds without irritating each other. When I ran out of ideas (and patience), I put them back in cribs and we all slept well again. Daddy was not thrilled with this decision, but I didn't know what else to do. Their crib was not a safety hazard for them because at the time they had not attempted to climb out of it, and it wasn't too small for them so I saw no reason it would be harmful to let them stay in their cribs for a little while longer.

I didn't intend for them to remain in their cribs this long, but hey...if it's not broke don't fix it, right? The girls recently started climbing out of their cribs on a regular basis and we already knew that it was past time to attempt toddler beds again so daddy took the initiative one day while mommy was at the hospital visiting her Uncle Dennis. They immediately wanted to go to bed even though it was the middle of the afternoon and they had already taken a short nap. They were very anxious to go to bed that night and sleep in their new beds. They repeated asked if it was bedtime, and could they go to sleep yet, etc. I am happy to say that now that they are a little older, they are doing very well in toddler beds. I think it was totally worth the wait.

Changing topics again: I really need to take the girls to get professional pictures taken. I usually try to do it around their birthday but that has come and gone and I never got around to it. They just had individual pictures taken at preschool but I don't know when we will get those back. Plus, I still want one of all 3 of them together. Maybe we will attempt to have pictures taken this weekend...or Monday, since daddy will be off work (holiday). I will post some new pictures soon, even if they aren't professional.
