I might have went a little overboard. Most parents bring in fruit snacks, pretzels, or something simple like that. And with a class of about 16 kids and 2 teachers, it was no easy task making and transporting these tricked out treats to school each day. Take a look at what I made...
Tuesday was Alexa's day and I made school buses out of graham crackers and yellow icing. There are mini oreo's for the wheels, golden grahams for the windows and a yellow M & M for the headlight. The teachers said they were a big hit even if they weren't the most nutritious snack!

Wednesday was Emily's day and I decided to try to make sailboats. I cored apples, cut them in half, covered them with a thin layer of carmel and stuck a toothpick sail in them. Apparently some of the kids didn't like the caramel so they weren't as big of a hit as the previous day's snack. Hmm, wonder why? Most kids would rather have a cookie than an apple any day!

Thursday was Madison's day and I decided to try to make a race car. It was celery with a little bit of cheese, and raw carrots for the wheels (held together with toothpicks). Needless to say, this snack was liked the least by the kiddos but at least they were nutritious (and probably fun to play with!).

I don't know if I will go to all this trouble for their next snacks, but I tried to do something special the first time. I have to add the disclaimer that these ideas were hijacked from the internet and were not original ideas on my part. I don't have this kind of creativity.
Those are awesome! I especially love the celery race cars. Very cool.
