Vacation time!!

Not quite two weeks ago, Scott asked me what I thought about the 5 of us driving to Florida to pick my Grandma up from vacation and bring her home. I told him I thought he was nuts and reminded him that my mom was planning on going to to Florida to get Grandma. I didn't think too much of it, but when I talked to my mom later that day I mentioned it to her. As it turns out, my mom had just found out that they were going to be going to Washington, DC for a funeral the same week as the trip to get Grandma and although they could still do both trips it would be rough on them. So after thinking about it a couple more days, we decided to go ahead with Scott's idea and plan the trip to Florida.

We originally planned just to get a hotel near Grandma in Ocala and spend most of our time letting the girls enjoy the pool and the warm weather. Then it occurred to me that we have no idea when (if ever) we will make this trip to Florida again and wondered if we would regret not taking the girls to Disney World while we are there. After contacting Scott's cousin (who works for Disney) we realized that the cost for the 5 of us to go to Disney for 2 days was going to be over $600, which is not in our budget. She then told us that if we asked nicely and went on the weekend while she was off work, she could get us in for FREE. Ummmm, pretty please with sugar on top!?!?! Needless to say, we changed our plans and booked a room in Orlando instead of Ocala and we will be spending 2 days at Disney before we meet up with Grandma and heading back home.

So what started out as a crazy idea has turned into our first real family vacation. We'll be leaving tomorrow!
