My babies are in school!!!

I don't know how it happened.  How did my babies become old enough to be in school?  Okay, so it's not kindergarten but next year it will be!  They have been so anxious to start preschool and they thought the day would never get here.  They marched up to the doors of school this morning without hesitation.  Each of them eagerly wearing their matching backpacks.... *sigh*
Alexa is in the lead, Emily is in the middle and Madison is bringing up the rear.
We must have arrived at school a little early, because we had to wait outside the classroom door before they opened it.  I took the opportunity to snap a quick picture of the girls.  Nope, you can't tell they were excited can you?  L-R:  Emily, Madison, Alexa
They each have their own cubby for their backpacks and such.  I asked each girl to stand in front of their cubbies so I could take their picture, but I don't know why they are making such funny faces.  There were kids and parents everywhere, so maybe they were just trying to soak it all in.  L-R:  Alexa, Emily, Madison
One of their teachers asked if I wanted to have my picture taken with the girls.  Normally I would have said no because I don't like my picture taken, but I decided to anyway.  We had been there less than 5 minutes and the girls (Alexa mostly) had already been in the toys like it was her own house.  L-R:  Emily, Alexa, Mommy, Madison.

I was shocked and a little proud of myself that I didn't cry.  Not even on the way home.  The girls didn't act the least bit sad or apprehensive when I said I wasn't going to stay at school with them.  Emily promptly gave me a hug and kiss and went to find something to play with.  Madison gave me a hug and kiss and sat down nearby just looking around at everything.  Alexa was already playing and I had to get her attention to even get a goodbye hug and kiss.  I'm glad that they didn't cling to me, and I want them to be somewhat independent but I didn't expect it to go as well as it did.  I have mixed emotions about it...I know it's a good thing, but it's a little sad too.
